I'm in a tree right now.
Had a small curved 2 or 3 point about 40 yds this AM.
At about 9 am, had a forkhoen under me.
Back in the stand now.Opinions are like anal apertures. They all stink but mine.

Re: Deer hunting 23/24
Bucks are hitting the dirt this week. I have four friends that have connected so far. Rut activity on the camp cams is pretty good. Hoping to get in a tree this weekend for the first time. I have an injury that has prevented me from shooting a vertical bow all summer. I am borrowing a crossbow with some reluctance. At least I will be out. The rut is hard to beat.

Re: Deer hunting 23/24
just curious how early public land hunters get out in the morning. For the up coming opening day i tend to get out an hour to hour and half before shooting light to get where i want to.

Re: Deer hunting 23/24
I like to be on stand, set and ready to go for about an hour before shooting light.
I normally hunt way back in, so it*s about 1.5 to 2 mile hike. I get to my stand, get all my thermals on and let the woods settle down. Any deer moving through the area are pretty calm*..guys walking in right before first light can usually push something my way.
With my health what it is these last couple years, I*m only going in about 1/2 mile on Saturday. I*ll probably be on stand about 1/2 hour before shooting light. With such a short walk, I don*t need to dress light and put on all my stuff when I get to my spot.

Everybody be safe and have a good time!
Strange women lying in ponds, distributing swords, is no basis for a system of government.
