For me, the more domestic components that are on an AK, the more it loses its appeal to me. Gimme an old rockin commie block gun any day.
Exactly. There would be a LARGE price diff between a 100% USA-made AK vs. a "kit gun" (like IO's example) or vs. a ban-gun like the WASRs and Saigas.
For most of us it becomes an important price decision.

From the picture that gun looks like a standard Romanian with black furniture.

$500 good price ... right now yes ... 6 months ago No. It all depends on how bad you want one.

btw ... a 100% USA built AK would definitely be more than most people would be willing to pay. If they could make a huge run of them, maybe $800 to $1000.

after Century ran out of Yugo parts kits they started making an AK called the AK1975 that is made from all U.S. parts. Everythings Tapco and the receiver is dan coonan. the price was under $600. which isnt bad for a U.S. made brand new AK.

thats not bad. I am not a fan of the stock but its easy to find a wood stock to change it out. If anyone can find a nice wood stock for this let me know and maybe Ill be more interested.

*** I think *** (so many pardons asked in advance if I am wrong and do not wish to besmerch a rep) Vulcan is/was Hesse?

Or, maybe these are the folks who did the semi-only M3 .45ACP Grease gun??

If so, don't go in those directions for the love of all that is right and good with the world.

Else, understand that tooling up to build gas-blocks and RSBs and trunnions and such is no small investment; thus it may be MANY years before someone builds a 100% gen-u-wine USofA made AKM.
Arsenal in Vegas is supposedly an almost exact brick/mortar transplant of a Bulgarian Arsenal factory - but even they do not make ALL their own AK parts yet.

As for the OP asking for wood for his IO AKM - yes, it is a stamped recvr gun, so the majority of AK wood furniture sets for stamped guns will fit - with a tad bit of tweaking, some needing more tweaks than others (like those freakin' poly buttstocks...).
