    What's a "spare $100"?

    (OK, I do keep $40 tucked away in case I need gas or something)

    And what's a "phone case"? (I use an old school holster because I need to keep grass off my phone)
    I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

    Well, you could just tape it to your phone I guess.

    I DO have a minimalist type rubber/grippy cover on my phone. Never thought to peel that fucker off and slip a twenty in there.

    It is a good way to go. Saved my ass a few times. I usually keep $100 there, but sometimes I spend and it is 2 $20s or a fifty.

    I just verified. Today it's $100 (;

    Recommend enough to fill your gas tank. The number of times I pull up to a pump and card machine is down is higher than I would like.

    While you are at it, slip a label on there with your name and wife's phone number and email address. That way, if you lose your phone and it's found by a kind soul, they at least have a way to get it back to you.

    I keep a $50 in my case for the same reason. I am able to put a message on my Lock Screen so people can see it when they turn on. I have please call this number ( my wife*s #) if you find this phone. It has come in handy a few times when I left my phone lying around at work. A buddy had a similar message only they put their number instead of someone else*s. It took him a minute to understand the problem with that when I pointed out that would not work.

    I have a message on my Lock Screen too. I just don't want to depend on that since putting a label in the case is so easy and works if the phone battery died, gets dropped in water, gets smashed by being run over, or whatever.

    When you have a nice label maker, you tend to find reasons to use it (;

    None. In the case of a major economic collapse neither will have value.

    I would neither agree nor disagree with that. I consider it a possibility but will not commit myself either way.

    I have been keeping about 20% of my "liquid" assets in currency.

    My gold and Silver is about 40% of the "liquid".

    Happily, the house is now paid for.

    Like Jay Smith, cash is useful for cars and tools. I pay all my local car repairs in and hired work cash. I have bought a LOT of cars for currency, with a lot of interest saved, and reduced price for Cash right here right now.

    I do use credit cards all the time, but I could pay them all off tomorrow. They keep sending me offers to consolidate at 0% interest for 12-15 months - with a 3 to 4% fee. That's a little lower than inflation, and owing $ to companies in un-secured debt is ok by me. So I roll it over.

    If the feces impact the rotating blades, those will go unpaid, and I will press on with a smile.

    In the meantime, I have the use of that money.

    My credit score is about 805 - 810, so I'm good to go.
