I can't think of any one man that has as many good, witty quotes as Winston Churchill.

I always knew we had people in our generation that understood that firearms are not evil. Sometimes you forget that listening to the California crowd.
Sanity, yours if you can keep it.....

His arch nemesis, George Bernard Shaw, was almost as proficent particularly with negative comments. There are a few stories about those two facing off, but Churchill usually prevailed.

One of my favorites....Shaw had a play opening and offered Churchill two tickets "Bring a friend friend...if you have one." To which Churchill replied "I can't make opening night but I'll come to the second show...if you have one."

There is another about their wives but I can't recall it correctly. Churchill owned the guy. BTW, Churchill would be aghast if he saw England today...the guy loved guns.

    Is it:

Woman: If I were your wife, I'd give you poison.

WC: Madam, if you were my wife, I'd drink it!
Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

That's it! Thank you! Ok, it wasn't Shaw and Churchill...but it sure is classic Churchill.

My favorite Churchill quote was from his Men of Valour speech.

"I speak to you for the first time as Prime Minister in a solemn hour for the life of our country, of our empire, of our allies, and, above all, of the cause of Freedom... Centuries ago words were written to be a call and a spur to the faithful servants of Truth and Justice: 'Arm yourselves, and be ye men of valour, and be in readiness for the conflict; for it is better for us to perish in battle than to look upon the outrage of our nation and our altar. As the Will of God is in Heaven, even so let it be.'"
