Just after crossing into PA, on Rt20, is the little town of North East. Just after passing through, on the left is Valley Gun Sales. Just after car wash. Real friendly nice little shop. Gorenflo's is a small shop also, Never know what you might find there. Presque Isle is a bit larger.

It does sound like a great trip, I'd like to hear how it goes.

Plenty to do if youve got kids. I love that Waldameer is still an open park. You can park for free, walk around, go on a ride or two with the kids, and grab a snack without dropping 200 - 300 bucks on ride-all-day passes.
The 1-1/2 hour boat ride from the Perry Monument out into the lake is nice too, if you don't have your own boat.
The kids always like stopping by the kite beach, especially if we bring our own.
And the 4th of July parade rocks.

Re: Much going on in Erie
Edinboro Outdoors is now owned by Presque Isle Guns, from the city. I don't recommend either. Bob's is OK, but not outstanding. The rest of the recommendations are on the mark. Depending on time of year, Elk Creek is a great spot for steelhead and bass fishing. Also, in the summer, you can't beat Presque Isle beaches, if summer if arrives. The lighthouse is open for tours in the summer too. 5$, I think. And stop at Sara's for ice cream or hamburgs on your way in or out. It's right at the entrance. Also, they run a campground there. Also, near the public dock, foot of State St. there are two headboats for perch fishing, two trips a day, or you can charter a boat for walleye.

Yep, Valley is a decent shop. Before you get there, you'll go through Harborcreek, Check out U Pik Six, restaurant with outdoor seating, and you can pick out a six pack of different craft beers.
There are a few nice little restaurants in North East also. And several wineries.
