Re: 7.62x54R subsonic loads ???
[QUOTE=toadyoforangeville;412977]This is why I was going to use them also the SKS has a 20" barrel I think compared to the 31.5" of the mosin[QUOTE]
then again, the barrel might be long enough that the suppressor isn't needed. Wow ther is more here to wonder about than I thought It might be a very long project.....ZRT: SECTOR 3(SNIPER) Among othe tasks...

Re: 7.62x54R subsonic loads ???
Hey I'm new here, this is my first post.Mca sports chamber adapters could make an adapter that would fire the 7.62x25 Tok.Pistol round, the adapter ejects like a cartridge but has been chambered for the smaller cartridge, would be posible to load the 7.62x25 with a rifle bullet(like the whisper line of subsonic cartridges),a fellow from another forum is suposed to start making some soon,I dont know when or how much$.Would be quiet in a rifle,a 300 Whisper would'nt be bad also, when you wanted another quieter cartridge it would be there in your other pocket.

Re: 7.62x54R subsonic loads ???
Well welcome to the fourm! I have also thought about that and its not as easy as handloading a subsonic round. I might start with 10 grains of blue dot. It seems more reliable than red dot in rifle rounds rd causes way too much pressure with small amounts in 223 and clays worked very well so maybe Ill start with 10 of that and a .311-.312 100gr lswc.

Re: 7.62x54R subsonic loads ???
I understand what you are getting at,stumbled across a article on the web about what was called Cat sneeze loads. They were called that because of the low level of noise, got it loaded on a floppy somewhere,I'll try to find it and send, they were shot in rifles without supresors and verry quiet, most used a buckshot projectile some used a bullet and powder from a 7.62x25 and were fired in a Mosin Nagant rifle.I'll se if I can find it and post it here. Thanks

Re: 7.62x54R subsonic loads ???
The website is listed as Gunwriters ' Handloading Subsonic Cartridges ,I typed in cat sneeze loads and found it under that title, interesting stuff,no real load data but a view from someone that had knowledge and made his loads out of what was available to him, good reading material.

Re: 7.62x54R subsonic loads ???
You got me wondering.
Would it be possible, you think , to make an adaptor to fire a 7.62X39 in a 7.62X54 chamber?
Something similar to that adaptor to fire .308 in a 30-06 chamber?
I gotta see my gunsmith about this.
That 7.62X25 adaptor sounds great also, but would be a tad pesky if it came out everytime.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Gotta check this out

Re: 7.62x54R subsonic loads ???
I just dont know,MCA Sports made me an adapter to fire .22 Hornet in my Lone Eagle pistol that is 22-250,asked if they could make adapter to fire .223 Rem.and they said they would split, they havent been answering my emails ,but they have a phone number .MCA Sports/Ace Bullet Company 2800 West 33rd Road Anchorage,Alaska 99517-2201 Phone number(907)-248-4913.They may want you to send a fired case from your rifle to measure from.Let me know what they say,as I am verry enterested also about 7.62x39 and 7.62x25.Thanks Dakoma
