The slide is aluminum, which I can assure you is a metal. It seems to be a pretty high grade of aluminum too.

I know its "Metal" but I would have preferred a higher grade material.

The SR22 is a great little plinking pistol.

Mine followed me home a few weeks ago when I visited Bob's Army/Navy. I've attached my S&W micro light to it, and it fits well. The momentary on switches are perfectly spaced from the outside of the trigger guard for me. I recently received a threaded barrel in the mail for it from Twin Tech inc, and I've been using my Outback on it. It's super quiet, especially with subsonic. Only problem is once in awhile, the slide wont travel far enough back to chamber the next round, but that's only with the can on and after a few hundred rounds of not being cleaned. Other than that, no problems whatsoever. I do wish mags were cheaper though. I'm impatient and want to just keep shooting! Haha.

I'm glad you enjoy yours OP, if you have a can, it's worth every penny to get the threaded barrel. Here's a link.

Ordered on a Tuesday, received it Friday of the same week.

    Love mine.

I shoot mine at the plinking range at Falls. 25yds, no problem.

I had a problem with the cheap Federal bulk packs at first, but after about 1K rounds this thing seems to have an insatiable appetite for any ammo.

Really happy with mine, I'm sure your gonna feel the same way

Looks like a fun gun! I may have to retire the old Walther P22 soon!

The main competition, the Walther P22, is known for its "pot metal" slide being problematic. The SR22 had slide problems, but it had to do with some incorrectly manufactured slides that were apparently missing a reinforcement where the slide-lock hits.

Remember, you're asking a little .22LR to cycle the gun. Too much weight in the slide, and that becomes a no-go.
