Re: Car Mirror.....Body shop or dealer?
Michele,
Take it to a body shop and let your insurance fix the mirror, then trade that thing for something 4wheel drive!
If you need a body shop let me know, there's a guy in your area I know.Last edited by P89; January 7th, 2009 at 06:29 PM.

If you lived closer I could take care of it.
I have a few contacts here.

Re: Car Mirror.....Body shop or dealer?
It wouldn't be beneficial for the insurance to fix the mirror. It would wind up costing me money in the long run. Even though the ice did fall from my neighbors house, i'll be a good neighbor and swallow the cost. After all I should have known better parking it there.
I will get a 4 wheel when finances are a little bit more stable. And i'm keeping this car until the wheels fall off! 1997's are the last of the big ones! The car has never given me any real trouble and it gets awesome gas mileage for its size. Besides its super comfortable, gives a great ride, and awesome to drive.
ETA: My car is now 12 years old and its NEVER been on the hook! Pretty impressive for a Ford.Last edited by Michele; January 7th, 2009 at 06:35 PM.

Tons of these on ebay and Google Products (which searches ebay, too).

Personally, I'd def go to a bodyshop. Car companies jack the hell out of their prices for parts when their sales are down. You can only imagine where they're at right now. Anyways, it's a common practice for them to spike prices to compensate for slumping sales. You'll be able to find plenty online that are new, just missing the Ford symbol and half the price tag.

Your car insurance? No. The Neighbors HOMEOWNERS insurance. Most places will not even blink at less than $1000.... most have that built into their policy to avoid court. Business liability policies are as high as $5k for 'nuisance' claims... mine did.
If it happened once, it will happen again.

Re: Car Mirror.....Body shop or dealer?
Well this is my first mirror experience in PA so thats why I asked. I really wasn't sure how things like this would work up here. I really would hate to have to travel back to NYC where I know how things work.
#1 stopped working, original (electric & memory)
#2 body shop got a used/abused replacement for #1, painted it poorly and wired it and duct taped it inside my door. What a nightmare, kept shorting out. So that one went bye bye. Went to a different body shop for #3.
#3 mirror itself was broken out, no replacement for that, so that became #4
#4 ice off the roof, which will be replaced now by #5.
I really don't want to file any claims. I have a great relationship with my neighbors and don't want to ruin it over this. They have never said a word to me about Rocky occasionally wandering (following his nose) into their yard and peeing on their grass. Besides the second thing my neighbor said to me when I moved in was "don't park in the driveway in the winter, because the ice WILL fall on your car". I also feel horribly bad for them being, last week during one of our ice/wind storms many pieces of their house was scattered in my driveway and in my yard. The poor old man was picking up pieces of his house in the snow.

1997? Older?
That's practically new, where junk yards are concerned. Shouldn't have any issue finding a replacement, though I don't know the Erie area. Shit, there's a Ford-only junkyard back home that probably has a dozen of them sitting in a row.
