No...it's a tool for self defense.

Why were they suing the shop that sold the gun?

The woman had first gone to Kmart to purchase a gun; however, the bright, young salesman noted her behavior and refused to sell her the rifle, telling her that there was a "waiting period." She then quickly went to another retail outfit. The Mall has had experience with the woman in the past.

And that is why you don't go to the mall unless you're armed. They cover their own asses by not letting you carry, but then when someone comes in with malicious intent you're like lambs to the slaughter. I'll take my life into my own hands, thank you very much.

The mall in my hometown used to employ armed security guards and pay police to be there in uniform when off-duty. To my knowledge they also allowed concealed carry, but I was too young at the time to really know for sure. When a bank bought the property and put the mall under their management they put up "No Firearms" signs, stripped their security guards of their guns, booted the off-duty police out of there except during Christmas, and basically turned it into a haven for degenerates. I never felt safe there after all of that.

Lisa, I'm so sorry for your loss. That's terrible that it went down that way.

Yes. But it's a lawsuit liability they care about. And it should work both ways.

As I had no idea about this policy, I too will no longer visit AMC. I have carried in the 309 Cinema several times and never saw a sign or was told about the policy.

Currently I have inquiries into Regal and Frank Theaters to get their official policy.

"Oh. Alright. Well, are you okay if I just cover it up and remember this for next time?" Obviously, with no intention of there being a 'next time.'
"I'm sorry, but I have to ask you to abide by the policy."
You see, there have been unconfirmed reports of armed Smurfs causing trouble and waving around firearms they stole from GI Joe toys in an attempt to intimidate AMC rats and roaches.
The last thing I want to do is hurt you... but believe me, it's on the damned list.

Was this the Sylvia Seegrist incident? I was at work when that incident took place. A news report came over the radio about a shooting at the mall, but the shooter had yet not been identified. A man at a desk across from me said, "That sounds likes something Sylvia Seegrist would do!" I asked, "Who the hell is Sylvia Seegrist?" He said it was some crazy chick who went to high school with him around the same time. Turned out later, he was right!
