Thats the standard model and thats high. They have an "E" model that has a different rail, no sights, and no magazine for something around $1000. Check out impactguns they should have a representation of the different configurations/pricing options

You could also go Adams Arms if you don't want a DI rifle. You can at least buy all the spare parts you want and need from various retailers.

Either get an AA upper or kit.

That or save some money and go PWS. I chose a PWS mk116 upper and have no regrets.

I've got a standard model. I'm not sure how it differs from the carbine model.

I only have maybe 500 rounds through it. Probably half of those are reloads. No problems that I recall. I got it to have a Piston, and it seemed more affordable to me than other piston options. It runs very clean until I slap my silencer on it, and then it seems like it has just as much soot/carbon as a DI gun.

I like the Hogue grip. The trigger was very heavy as most will tell you. I got a Timney drop in trigger for it, and really like that mod. Other wise it came with a soft case, 3 PMAGS, and open sights.

I haven't put it through much so I can't really offer much of an opinion.

You can find a 2 part Nutnfancy review on it on youtube, if you can sit through almost 2 hours of Nutnfancy.

The carbine has a shorter barrel and a bit less weight.

I thought maybe that was the case as well, but unless Ruger has their data specs wrong on the website both the Standard & the Carbine are listed as having a 16.12" barrel.
