Yeah if he can spend a grand and wait a little while, a 243 in the new M70 is the way to go, otherwise a savage would do nicely

.243 wssm is a great round, but unless you are setup to reload...expensive ammo that is not as prevalent as regular 'ole .243 win; I regret the setup that I had going last year; had a deposit on a really nice Winchester 70 Coyote in .243 win, but really wanted a hunter profile barrel, so I went with a Savage 111g in .25-06...still a damned nice rifle, but 5 shots & I get barrel heat mirage & the ammo is not as prevalent as .243 win...especially premium loads; stick with the tried-n-true!!!
