Re: Preferred PA deer caliber
My .280 Remington which was the first rifle that I was able to buy and outfit on my own.
It has had some customization through the years and is definitely a hand loaders project to optimize its potential. For years it was my only rifle and I have loads for groundhogs on up for it.
As I get older I find myself using lever carbines with cast bullets more.
LOL I also have used a .375 H&H one time, but with a cast bullet. Had the power of about a .358 Winchester, and I found lugging a 10 pound rifle around was a bit much.It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.

.35 REM in a Marlin 336C, or 30.06 in my 700BDL Custom Deluxe, a rifle ALMOST too nice to take to the field. It was a gift from wife our first Christmas after we got married. I love that woman 32 years into our lifetime together!

Here in Chester Co. it's 12 ga. w/Hornady SST slugs, .50 cal. smoke pole w/Hornady SST sabot slugs, or crossbow. In the mountains it's Marlin 336 in .30-30 w/Federal 150 gr. PowerShok soft points.

Re: Preferred PA deer caliber
I suppose my Rem 760 in 30.06 was my go to.gun for years but haven't shot a deer with it in a long time.
More recently, my 2 .300 Win Mags have helped me harvest a couple doe as have my National Ordnance 30.06, my Marlin 30-30 and my .44 Mag Redhawk.
I think.the .300 WinMag is my newest preferred caliber.Opinions are like anal apertures. They all stink but mine.
