This is for the $2800+ bottle of whiskey for trade you speak of? That's some good shit.

Re: Barter- guns, gold, alcohol?
I don't see ever opening it myself. Trying to figure out a good way to move it to some one who might.
And I'm not trying to get every penny out of itLast edited by heavyjim; February 7th, 2023 at 09:06 PM.

You can barter anything you want. Just don't tell anybody. Bartering is taxable from what Ive read. Again.

If the tax is already paid at the government dispensing store you can use it for enema if you want and the government has no say in it.

Re: Barter- guns, gold, alcohol?
I never really understood the "logic" of bartering. Why not just buy what you need now and not have to barter? I know for myself, disposable income is limited, so everything I purchase, there is a need/use. I'm not wasting money that I don't have on crap that "could" be used to barter down the road.
I don't have the space to buy barter items, in hopes that I can trade those items for something more useful for my family.
You people must be solely planning on bugging in with the barter mindset, as alcohol and or PM is heavy. If I am bugging out, I'm not carrying "extra" items that may be used to barter. I'm carrying those items that will be useful to my family NOW.
I see these types of threads all the time, and think your time and money would be better served in buying what your family needs now.
Some barter items I see that isn't on my list is:
Alcohol
Cigarettes
Condoms

Slightly related are classified with TRADES ONLY! That severely limits potential. If you don't find a trade, just sell what you have, then use those funds to buy what you want.

Yes, if you find the right person and deal.
Quite a difference between striking a deal today on a valuable item and being in a SHTF situation.
When, and if, the SHTF the dynamics will change on what's valuable.
Precious metal is but one tool in the box.
Worked with a guy and noticed he wore a heavier gold necklace. Asked him if it was a chic magnet.
He just said no, it because you never know. Ancestors were survivors of the holocaust.Last edited by cephas; March 13th, 2023 at 06:26 AM.
It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.

Re: Barter- guns, gold, alcohol?
Bartering is more relevant when certain items aren't readily available through the ususal channels. Sometimes it's just a matter of parties having things desired by each other and a deal can be reached without the need for involving cash.
A friend had a brand new generator that he was getting rid of. He was asking $1000 or a short list of items he would consider in exchange. I offered up a custom built rifle with a value of more than $1000, but that I acquired for well less than that amount. He agreed.
He got something he could use, that he could not have obtained with $1000 cash, and I got something I wanted that I could not have obtained for the amount I spent on the rifle.Get your "Guns Save Lives" stickers today! PM for more info.
