Re: D-Day ...1944 , what if ...
I have a spin-off question. If we had a D-Day redo but this time one of the sides had modern day small arms and the other side still had what they were using at the time would it change the outcome?

No love for the Japs of French guns here, and the French guns have only been dropped once.

How did the pps43's shake out, other than not being the primary Russian rifle?

Well if the Germans had 5he modern equipment, the Allie's would be toast , semi auto beats bolts every time . This is why our squads were so effective in the war . We could lay down a lot of fire w/o an MG .
If the Allie's had 5he modern equipment they'd win like they did only more substantially.

Hitler's mistake was fighting a two-front war.
If he stayed out of Russia and focused on the western front the idiot French would all be speaking German.

True. Gunsmith Ray Dunlap was in Army Ordnance in WWII, serving in both European and Pacific Theaters. He conducted extensive examination and testing on Ally and Axis weaponry, summarized in his excellent book, Ordnance Went Up Front. He intentionally overloaded all of the various main battle rifles and found that the Arisaka and the Mosin Nagant were the strongest actions.
