Re: Cleaning 22 suppressors
Yea let me know cause spending 2 hours twice to clean that thing will keep it well oiled in the safe for a long long time. I gotta say though I have almost every gun oil known to man kind but I like the ATF fluid lots of good benefits so far. Gonna try it out for a bit on my carry gun

Re: Cleaning 22 suppressors
I never made or thought of using it cause it*s just too easy to buy some Hoppes. But just straight Valveline synthetic ATF removes carbon and even other oils pretty well. I was an Auto tech for 15 years and spent too many days inside transmissions and never gave it a thought. It*s too easy to buy some clp and call it good. Even if I have 20-25 call it goods

Re: Cleaning 22 suppressors
ATF is good stuff and has anti deposit additives and does leave enough residue behind so you don't have to bother oiling it again. But IMO thinning it a little by adding paint thinner and Kerosene so it penetrates more and acetone to remove any lacquers make it work better. It doesn't cost much more but the biggest pain is getting everything you need.
Hoppes is good stuff too but when I can make a quart of Eds red for 1/10 the price from stuff I already have in my garage there was no looking back.
That said Hoppes does make a much better cologne.

This is 2 hrs of just soaking in the breakthrough, aluminum baffles that were filthy. I*m pretty impressed, can probably get them cleaner If I soak overnight.
First two baffles
Middle two
Last two
Top is blast baffle to last baffle
This stuff was crystal clear

Re: Cleaning 22 suppressors
I have not done this but I have heard that putting the baffles in a tumbler cleans the lead off really well but I have sonic cleaner not tumbler so can't confirm it.
