That is always a possibility but he didn't say that in the video.

Looking at the news video and listening to the report, it is a high-traffic area with some congestion. We are just finishing up a double roundabout in our area and can say all businesses were fairly compensated.
There is a shitload of engineering that goes into road realignment and from the plans here it looks reasonable. They have to consider future growth and accident data. Storm water management and retention ponds and swales take up space too.

It's not as simple as saying we're just giving you what we see fit, there is a legitimate appraisal process and even room for some negotiation.

Looks like some bureaucrat is going to have his pockets lined, on the expense of a small business.

Looking at the map they are using mostly woodlands for the project. Yes it sucks for the produce place but wherever they put it someone would bitch about it.

Everyone who drives in that area during rush hour knows it needs to be fixed.

Apparently, someone didn't keep up with their protection payments.

Pennies on the dollar. So little that they can't even think about buying another property and keeping in business.

Lowball offers for eminent domain confiscations can be appealed. It sucks that it costs money but it it's a lot of money, it's worth it. Loser should have to pay legal fees.

It's a high traffic area that has a bit of congestion, completely due to poor light timings on the 3 lights, one on that side, 2 on the other side of the bridge. The bridge backup is what really messes things up. Like sitting for 4 solid minutes in front of the ford dealer, that no one is pulling out of. I treat that light as a stop sign.
