Conneaut or Pymatuning
I'm thinking of buying a little cottage or trailer in the Conneaut or Pymatuning Lake areas.
I've already looked around Conneaut Lake and liked what I saw.
What should I know before I sign?
Thanks for any advice.NRA, IDPA, Tactical Pistol Instructor

Re: Conneaut or Pymatuning
I really dont think you could go wrong with either. Both are beautiful areas. I personally would go with Pymatuning because of the lesser number of people around.

You'll be in the middle of the snow belt. Granted, it's nothing like what Buffalo sees, but it is enough to be a pain.
Beautiful areas, nonetheless.
Pymatuning is well known for its carp population at the spillway. Kinda fun to watch...

Re: Conneaut or Pymatuning
Really depends what your looking to do. Conneaut is the choice if your looking to do watersports, and any "real" boating as Pymatuning has HP limits. If you're just looking for a place on/near some water, and maybe a small boat to puts around in and catch some good fish I'd say Pymatuning will do ya well, and will be a bit easier on the wallet too.
Let me know if you have any questions about Conneaut, I'm actually sitting on my dock right now typing this on my cell

Conneaut. Hands down.
I loved it there.
I was bummed when we sold our house up there.

Re: Conneaut or Pymatuning
Been going up there all my life. Pymatuning has hp limit of 9.9hp it's more of a fishing lake whereas Conneaut is for water skiing and jet skis etc. They're at most a 20 min ride from each other. If you like bass fishing there's a small little pond in Hartstown by some rail road tracks that has some of the best bass fishing I ever fished.

Re: Conneaut or Pymatuning
Sounds great, guys.
Pymatuning might be a better choice because of the calm and quieter motors. It's really a retirement retreat for dad (me).
My wife and I will be in the area this weekend. There's also a little place on French Creek I'll check out.
The closest Best Western I found was in Ohio. No CC in restaurants serving liquor. We'll be dining in Meadville.NRA, IDPA, Tactical Pistol Instructor

Re: Conneaut or Pymatuning
OK, wifey and I checked out a little place on French Creek in Saegertown, we drove all around Conneaut Lake and took a look at Pymatuning (in the pouring rain). Two acres on French Creek would be beautiful, but swimming is not possible there.
Next week or the week after, I'm going to return for a look at the Ohio side of Pymatuning.
I think that peace and quiet, along with some sort of a beach within walking distance would be the priorities.
Thanks a lot for all the help. NW PA is beautiful with great people.NRA, IDPA, Tactical Pistol Instructor

Re: Conneaut or Pymatuning
Hey there! I just joined the forum and searched for Conneaut Lake (my hometown). I'm curious what you settled on?
You really couldn't have gone wrong with any of the options, but as others said above... if you're looking for peace and quite, Pymy is the way to go (much better fishing, too). I live a block from Conneaut Lake and I hear are jetskis all day in the summer.
