I want a 1911!
I've been looking at these Kimbers. http://www.kimberamerica.com/pistols...stom_aegis_II/ Anyone have one that would want to share their opinion? Thanks

Re: I want a 1911!
Well, now to post something helpful.........
The 1911 in 9mm is the softest 9mm you will ever shoot and one of the most accurate. .38 Super has nearly the history behind it in the 1911 than the .45 ACP does (the Super was pretty much made for the 1911 in 1929). So the 1911 can do well with bullets in the .355 and .356 diameter.
I like Kimbers, but dislike the Series II safety. For that money I'd go with the STI Trojan. STI has a long history of 1911 guns n calibers other than .45 ACP and they know how to make them run.

A 1911 should only come in .45 ACP. And for the record you want this one.

I have one, my friend has one. Hands down the best pistol I've ever shot.
ETA: in the Kimber line the Warriors, and SIS models do not have the Series II safeties on them. Same holds true for any of the pistols they produced that were Series I. I don't know anything about the Aegis line but if it has an external extractor stay away from it. Kimber had terrible success with their external extractors although I believe that is a null and void issue at this point.Last edited by SuperMoose; April 23rd, 2009 at 11:50 AM.

Re: I want a 1911!
I know what everyone is saying about being a 4, but I have nothing to prove. I've never shot anything in 45 and am not sure I would be able to handle it. I' not a real big person. I also am well loaded up with 9mm ammo and reloading supplies. The idea of adding another caliber doesn't really appeal to me. I don't have any plans to shoot IDPA or USPSA at this point but who knows. I might as my skills become better with practice. I was shopping this morning an saw a Springfield EMP at a decent price. I don't want to spend a whole lot more than 1K. a few hundred extra wont break the bank...
