Re: One in the chamber
I've NEVER EVER carried with one in the chamber (about 5 years now). There's just too many things in my mind which could possibly go wrong that i'm not willing to chance it. If i need that extra second to put on in the chamber and I don't have that second, then i don't have it.

Re: One in the chamber
My first gun was a .38 Snub so technically I had 1 chambered… No safety on that gun. When I got my XD-40, I thought about the pros and cons of carrying without one in the chamber. And well lets just say I carry hot. Once you get your groove and you know your gun like the tv remote, you wont have a problem carrying hot. Good luck be safe..

Re: One in the chamber
I cant understand the occasional chambered gun issue thingy..
Just load the thing, put the safety on or however the individual gun is designed to do, and keep the booger hook off the bang switch.
I have a used and abused 1911 that I'll load, chamber with hammer cocked, and put the thumb safety on, then throw down a ravine.. I'll bet you a bag of donuts it wont go off.

Re: One in the chamber
"Our member, fortunately recovered from his gunshot wound, but he learned a valuable lesson: when you need a gun, you really, really need a gun, and you need it right now. You might not have time to make it ready, and that could be the difference between surviving the gunfight and dying."
that was a quote from another forum that really seemed to make me want to try it.
i need to get a holster, so far i have been mexican carrying in the SOB
its actually comfortable for me (sitting and standing) and when i get in my car i take it out and have it right next to my seat in a vertical position easy access.

Re: One in the chamber
It's a personal choice. I prefer a round in the chamber for immediate availability and an extra round in the gun.
If someone takes your gun from you and you don't have a round in the chamber, then they might not realize they should rack the slide before they can shoot you with your own gun. That's a chance for you to take it back.
I'm not familiar with the Bersa. I only carry guns that I know can't discharge without the trigger being pulled. In the case of the P7M8, you gotta do a bit more than that
With DA/SA pistols, if the DA is heavy enough, I don't use the safety if available (PPK/S).
With SA only (Colt 45), cocked and locked is the only way to go for me. The safety is nicely designed for switching off on that gun.
