Ar-15 questions
I posted up a few days ago asking about a Del-Ton kit and I want to thank everyone that gave me insight in to them.
My question is, can a 16 inch heavy barrel mounted with a free float hand guard shoot out 250 yards and pull nice groupings? as stupid as this sounds i want to be able to hit coke cans at 250 yards. is that a possibility, not factoring in my shooting ability.

Re: Ar-15 questions
I built a rifle using a del-ton kit and it is the barrel is free floated. It shoots about 1 moa using wolf ammo, so it should be possible to hit a coke can.

Re: Ar-15 questions
If you can hold it the gun should shoot it (as long as the barrel is ok). The AR, even the short barrels are made to be able to hit a man size target out to 400+ yds. Getting every right should allow you to hit coke cans at 250.

Re: Ar-15 questions
I don't have any problems hitting clays at 200 yards using my 10.5" Noveske upper, so if the gun is accurate a soda can at 250 shouldn't be an isssue.

Re: Ar-15 questions
I posted a reply in your other thread.
With a good scope and decent ammo that the gun likes and if you can do your part 4" groups at 250 yds should be possible.
There is a lot of variables.
A coke can is a very small target at that range. Handloading would certainly help you get there. You're not going to do it with Wolf ammo and a A2 type sighting set up.
If you go back and look at the pic I posted you'll see what I'm using.
The optics on that Del-Ton upper is a 10moa red dot. That is to say it covers 10" at 100yds. At 200yds it covers 20" so you can see my set-up isn't for shooting coke cans at 250yds.
For ref. here is a 200 yd and 100yd. targets that I shot back when it was warm outside with the red dot set up on top of the Del-Ton upper.
I was using 55gr. Wolf ammo so take that into consideration too.
My Del-Ton/Stag realy likes the 62gr. Barnaul ammo much more then the 55gr Wolf.
BTW the barrel is a 1-9 twist.
I high lighted the impacts as you can see.

Re: Ar-15 questions
I can ding a gong @ 300 yard offhand with irons out of a 16" wilson in about 3-5 shots.
with a zeroed scope a coke can at 250 should be nothing.
