Re: What are you all doing for ammo storage?
I've probably got ten 50 cal (reg and "fat 50") cans and four or six 40mm cans in my garage - empty.
Went on an ammo can buying binge back when you could find deals on them and never have money to fill them.
I shake my head when people who can afford to buy lots of ammo go and buy cheap, plastic cans that are not air tight.
May as well just throw it into a bucket for all the good it does to preserve the ammo.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: What are you all doing for ammo storage?
Mostly 40mm ammo cans. I get to move them out of my house this weekend when I move.
...and they have a plan...

Re: What are you all doing for ammo storage?
I’m ready for war! I have a good amount of ammo. A fair amount is in ammo cans. Some (9mm, 45acp and .223) is packed loose while other cans have the ammo still in their individual boxes. The vast majority are in case lots. All are stored on a wooden shelf rack in my reloading room.

Re: What are you all doing for ammo storage?
I used to buy large quantities of Xtreme plated bullets in boxes of 500 and now use those boxes to store my assembled rounds. I don't have large quantities of any particular caliber so when a box gets low I make one or two hundred replacements.

Re: What are you all doing for ammo storage?
Unopened cases stay in factory packaging. Bulk reloads and opened cases go in .50 cans. All the cases and cans are on shelving in my basement. Low count reloads in MTM boxes and factory boxes go on the shelf as is. Sometimes like caliber with different loads are consolidated in a .50 can on the shelves just to keep them together.
I have never seen a need for locked storage of ammunition.

Re: What are you all doing for ammo storage?
Are you worried about someone stealing your ammo? I mean, why put that in a safe?
But if you WANT a safe that would be perfect for storing ammo, I have a free one that you can have - you just have to get it out of my garage and on to whatever trailer you want to haul it on.
That safe isn't fireproof, but I have a two drawer filing cabinet that is. You can have that too, but only if you take the first safe with it.
If you're feeling generous, I'll accept on behalf of kid #1 any donation you'd like to make to that kid's college savings plan (:
