    Default 🤔 Is there a limit to how much ammo

    gun-double-pistol.gif

    Is there a limit to how much ammo you can purchase at one time?

    (WKYT)—Police said the suspect in the I-75 shooting bought around a thousand rounds of ammunition the morning of the shooting.

    Today’s Good Question is, “Is there a limit to how much ammo you can purchase at one time?”

    No, there isn’t. There is no federal or Kentucky law that limits how much ammunition a person can purchase at one time.

    The only restrictions on ammunition in Kentucky have to do with certain types of ammunition.

    KRS 237.080 says, “It shall be unlawful for any person to knowingly manufacture, sell, deliver, transfer, or import armor-piercing ammunition.”

    However, there are exceptions for the armed forces and law enforcement.

    There is also a law adding additional charges if you use armor piercing or flanged ammunition while committing a crime.

    There are some states, like California, that require background checks for purchasing ammunition, but they don’t limit how much you can buy.

    It’s also important to note that what may seem like a lot of ammunition to one person could be what someone else plans to use in one day at the shooting range. Online gun forums recommend shooting a few hundred rounds with a firearm while training.

    Individuals who hoard more ammo than they will ever use are idiots.

    Unless you get a good price. I don't remember how much I paid, but at some point I got a good price on Silver Bear for my AK. I mean, it was CHEAP. I bought 10 cases. I think it's 1000 rounds/case. I can go shoot as much as I want, treat others to do the same with my rifles, and just not care (;

    Last time I was at the range, I burned off some 500 or more rounds just fucking around and didn't care about the cost or worry about replacing it.

    That reminds me, I need to refill my 75 round drum (;

    Fair enough statement making this article purely for someone's information and not the usual antigun hit piece.

    Sometimes I*ll shoot a thousand rounds a month. Good deals maybe come once a year. Not lately though. Next good deal I see is probably 20 cases so I don*t have to worry for a while.

    - Credit card limit
    - Storage space
    - load bearing limit on upper floors - usually not an issue in the garage or basement

    Not nearly as foolish as people that like to shoot but don*t have a substantial buffer against a volatile market.

    I know all about that now. Getting low on ammo for my .357 and realized I only have 500 more small pistol mag primers.
