Default 😲Field artillery unit in Wilkes-Barre to be dissolved

    Attachment 176722

C'mon man what you gonna do throw rocks?

The 28th Infantry Division's 109th Field Artillery Regiment will officially be inactive on August 31, 2025, according to the Pennsylvania National Guard.

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. * An artillery unit in Luzerne County is going to be dissolved next year.

The Pennsylvania National Guard announced that its 109th field artillery regiment at the Kingston Armory in Wilkes-Barre will be inactivated on August 31st, 2025.

With a history dating back nearly 250 years, the unit was originally organized as a Connecticut Militia unit during the Revolutionary War.

In its place, the National Guard says it will activate the 28th Division Artillery.

Officials say they hope this restructuring will ensure the division in Luzerne County can conduct large combat operations when necessary.

Without artillery what will the PA national guard do when the Philadelphia riots start?

109th FA is the oldest active unit in the US Army. Lot of history there, I was 1/229th FA and we were absorbed into the 109th late 80s. Towed 105mm> Towed 155mm> M109 self propelled 155mm> Paladin 155mm. We even had a MLRS unit out of Pittsburgh. Time marches on, but history shouldn't be forgotten.
For those who've never fought for it, the price of freedom shall never be known.
