Re: 504 Gateway Timeout
The last week or so, it's been awful, waiting for a post to appear. And even switching to another page in the same post. I've just given up several times. I thought it was something wrong with my system.

Re: 504 Gateway Timeout
I asked about that and got no response. Maybe I asked the wrong person (danp).
Here's a motorcycle forum I frequent. Not flashy, but reliable. And it gives an indication when a thread you've posted in/are following has new content, or when you're quoted. When you enter an existing thread, it also takes you to the last post you viewed.
I asked that owner about contributing and he said it's not very expensive, don't worry about it. I don't have a qualitative value on that though, and from what I understand one or two people set up the software.

Are people who are having problems with the freezing using a VPN? I started turning my VPN off last night when I come here and it seems to help. Small sample size as of now though.

I vote no on cloud migration, pretending I get a vote. People always think cloud is cheap and easy. but it's really not. I'm currently migrating an oracle db into azure and it's not going well and very expensive.
You can get second hand hardware dirt cheap. I just upgraded my servers last summer to some e5 5698 v4 cpu's with 256gb ram and all nvme storage for under $500, and it's blisteringly quick and a multitude faster than old hardware. I have forums and db running, email, web servers, sql servers, application servers, and they're all lightning.
Microsoft has a p2v migration tool if it's running off baremetal. Also makes backup's of the entire vm easier and faster.iAnal
