Re: Cabela's / Bass Pro ... Mossberg Shockwave prohibited??
I call BS on Cabela's/Bass Pro stop selling guns and ammo. I've been to all in the area and there's never been a sign of that even at the Bass Pro in Atlantic City which sells reloading supplies too. I think it's just butthurt because they don't have the lowest prices that can be found scouring the internet.

Looks like Sportsmans Warehouse wont let you buy a Shockwave with a barrel shorter than 18.5 inches either. You can order one but have to pick it up in WVa. Must be an antigun conspiracy........

Re: Cabela's / Bass Pro ... Mossberg Shockwave prohibited??
Doesn't the 14 inch barrel version meet the definition of "firearm" relative to transfers in PA?

Re: Cabela's / Bass Pro ... Mossberg Shockwave prohibited??
Yes. Under PA law they are legally the same as a typical handgun.
For federal law they are "other firearms" or just "firearms", requiring the buyer to be 21yo and it has the same FFL transfer restrictions as handguns(must be transferred to the buyer thru a FFL of the recipient's home state). Only rifles and shotguns can be purchased from FFL in other states, and then a recipient's home state laws still factor in.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515, SteveWag

Re: Cabela's / Bass Pro ... Mossberg Shockwave prohibited??
The only one Cabela's sells has an 18.5" barrel. Their system indicates that is a prohibited item in PA.
I've been to the Hamburg store many times and there's always at least one employee who claims the same. They were saying it 2 years ago as well. None of us have any idea whether it's true or not, but the rumors are coming from their own staff. I find it hard to believe they would completely eliminate guns/ammo, but I can certainly envision them ditching "assault weapons" based on both my discussions with employees and the chain's tendency to to maintain very limited stock on them.

One of the people in the gun department told me that they sold more guns than all the FFLs in PA put together. Fact or fiction? I don't know.

As a general life rule, I dont believe anything a Cabela employee says. This can apply to any retail store employee.
