Default 🦌First come, first serve for hunters applying for doe tags

Pennsylvania hunting licenses and doe tags in three Wildlife Management Units for the 2024-25 season go on sale beginning at 8 a.m. June 24

If there’s one thing that makes Pennsylvania deer hunters nervous, it’s changes to the way we apply for antlerless deer licenses.

And for the second year in a row, that process is changing again.

The change should be for the better.

But there’s no question some hunters will be nervous until they experience the new process.

There is a limited number of doe tags available – 1,186,000 for the 2024-25 hunting year - and they are sold first come, first served.

Once they are sold out, that’s it.

And that’s what makes hunters nervous. neverous.gif

They issue more tags than there are deer, determined to wipe the herd out.
    Today was a good day!

Not every hunter gets a deer just because they have a tag.
Sticks and stones will break my bones but hollow points expand on impact.

I know how it works lol, when you give out more tags than deer the kill is going to be higher regardless, eventually it will take its toll on the herd.

That is really the best kind of tax there is: completely voluntary.

I was one the last 5-6 years, bought doe tags and didn’t fill them, by choice. Years ago it was a different story, if I had 5 tags, 3 tags or however many I always filled them.

I don't think there's any danger of 'wiping out the herd.'

Certainly not around my house - and I live in a damned city! I probably see deer walking the streets every day.
