Re: 70s classics
OK. I will dig it out again and get the info.
As a side note, I have a shitload of reloaded ammo for it too. This is the only .38 special I have, so I will have no use for the the ammo if I get rid of this pistol.
In the meantime....this is one my father randomly gave this to me for some reason (more than 20 years ago). He added that if I needed to murder anyone, to use this pistol as it wouldn't trace back to me or him. Not sure why he felt inclined to include that little piece of information.
I'm not sure I've ever used it - I may have put a few rounds through it. It was used when he gave it to me - but I dunno HOW used.
When I get a chance I will get it out of the safe and measure the barrel and get any other info I can off it.
UPDATE:
Its a S&W Model 14-3 (.38 Special CTG) with 5 1/4" barrel (as I measure it, but I guess it is considered 6"), like this one here:
Serial number is 8K9XXX. I MAY have the original box, I'd have to look (but I believe I do). I am not an expert in judging condition and such - but to MY eye, it seems excellent. I don't see any real wear or major scratches or anything. Action seems very smooth and crisp, as does the button for swinging out the cylinder and the ejector mechanism. Dad generally look excellent care of his guns. No idea if the grips on it are what came with it. The front sight has been painted with a bit of fluorescent paint.

Re: 70s classics
I picked this 28-2 up years ago. It was wearing Pachmayrs when I bought it. As I was leaving, the guy asked if I was interested in some take off stocks. I said sure* the cokes turned a decent deal into a sweet one.
