Yeah some youtuber dug into that and discovered it was a flat out lie. They pay your first year, but after that you have to pay.

As an engineer, i couldn't work for a company like that. I couldn't write ads for it, i couldn't market it, i couldn't be customer service for it, if that's how they choose to operate.

I was thinking the same thing. They were very specific saying no “monthly” fee and if they are totally dishonest and a scam that’s how they would get away with a “yearly” fee!

I asked my mechanic about them today (a ham guy/antenna builder/cb operator) he said they are probably internet based.
He told me what to get but you need skip points? It's like 10.00 a year or something like that for each one.
Him and a select few have radios with a couple skip points in which they can talk from maryland to philly,
even if the grid goes down.
    He's a member here but doesn't post.
The cb in his trcuk has two big cooling fans mounted under it and a huge heat sinc. The antenna looks like a cell tower.

He also said build a faraday cage for your equipment, and store them in it.

They say right on their website they're LTE based. Just a phone that looks like a walkie talkie, with much less functionality.

I posted on their page two questions. 1. I see absolutely no monthly charges but I hear there is a yearly charge per radio is that true and 2. if power and internet go down these won't work correct.
Within a few minutes my post appears to be gone - lol.

I purchase a couple BAOFENG radios a few years back but talk about confusing and not user friendly - lol. At one of our rallies years ago I had another member program them for me for the day, so I have one channel in there I guess! I always thought I was a fairly intelligent guy until I tried to work one of these. Plus, I hate reading and instructions so.........................

They look like what used to be Nextels to me and if they rely on cell service, they probably work on GSM or CDMA networks and both have their dead zones.

Baofeng HTs are not very user friendly but neither is the Kenwood that I have. Once programmed it's a little easier, as long as you don't want me to change to a non-programmed freq.

I posted again asking if it was true they have a yearly charge after first year. My post was not answered and instantly removed. #rapidradios = #don'ttrust for me
