I havent been back to a public range in years. The "Fuddism" is pretty entrenched at the DCF&S, 5 rounds max, but I have a lot of magazines.
The state game lands were bought entirely with money gathered from hunting license sales, so I say yeah , No hiking or biking or general public use on something thats Not for that intended purpose. This keeps the blue haired land whales from harasssing hunters. The Game commission has decided to put a "public representative Non hunter " on its board. These assholes decide if the rules and laws benefit the "Public Interests" when IMHO the public should stay the fuck out. They have state parks and county parks I pay for with MY tax dollars that have rules against hunting, if I cant hunt in their county and some state parks then they should stay out of the gamelands.

i go fly fishing on small streams (class A and others) on gamelands for trout (C&R only)

curious, does fishing licenses contribute to pa gameland at all?

Because the state does not have to provide public shooting ranges, nor do they have to allow you to shoot there for only the cost of a license or a range pass. You (and I, and the rest of us) are a guest and are obliged to follow the rules of the proprietor. And their rules say 6.

There doesn't have to be another reason, and it doesn't have to make sense. It just is.

It sounds like the best thing for you to do is set up a range on your own property and do as you wish.
Oh yeah, you're correct, and I totally agree... I just had a problem wrapping my head around the reason for it at first, but now I totally understand and agree with it. And yeah, the one's that complain about it.... I guess there's always people who just complain about everything.

It all goes to the same place, to the state's wildlife and land conservation. It gives a steady stream (pun unintended) of funds to cover the expenses of preserving the lands and waterways for fishing and hunting and general use.

The budgets for PGC and PFBC are seperate. Funding from fishing licenses does not go to acquire or maintain game lands.

interesting, guess my assumption was wrong.... didn't think their budgets were separate (at least, I figured the funding went into the same pot so to speak, and then were budgeted separately)
