PORT CARBON, Pa. — A burglar and a property owner are both facing faces after an attempted robbery in February of 2023.

State police investigated the shooting in Schuylkill County at an unoccupied house on 2nd Street in Port Carbon overnight back on February 7, 2023. Neighbors heard multiple shots, and then bullets were found near the home.

Dennis Powanda. 40, faces charges of criminal trespass and burglary, among other criminal charges, for attempting to burglarize the home. The property owner, Vincent Yakaitis, 74, also faces charges for shooting Powanda with a firearm carried without a license.

Both Powanda and Yakaitis have preliminary hearings set for April 30.

Curious why the property owner was charged. Maybe he was on a bike.

There's only a few sentences to read and your answer lies within.

But maybe a summary should have been posted?

It's says what he was charged with but not the circumstances.

He could have been legally open carrying.
