Browning 12 light shotgun value
My BiL lives behind enemy lines across the river. He is considering selling a shotgun that was handed down from his father. Can you knowledgeable gentleman help me out with the value?

- Browning light auto mag
- 1960’s
- gold engraved but all but trigger is worn
- 12 gauge
- 2 extra barrels and multiple chokes
Also, any additional info on this model would be helpful.
Thanks

Re: Browning 12 light shotgun value
I don't know exactly, but I'm definitely going to say north of $800 just for the gun being a gold engraved model. Then figure in the couple extra barrels, chokes, and probably that case. Then subtract for the worn gold engraving and other wear/scratches/etc.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was more than $1500 for the entire kit.
I've seen run of the mill A5 Light 12's in the $300 range on up to mid-$1000's depending on condition and options - none of which were gold engraved versions.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515, SteveWag

Re: Browning 12 light shotgun value
The Auto 5 is an underrated shotgun. Even the light model is heavy by today's man bun generation. I have a standard Auto 5 with 28" barrel that is well kept and well used on trap. I'd say in good condition with the extra barrels more than likely in the Eastern PA market from anywhere of $800-$1000. It's not a popular shotgun these days even though it's high quality and super reliable.

Re: Browning 12 light shotgun value
This is mine made in Belgium in 1971. Was purchased in 1972 for $272.00. Not for sale, but I would say about 95% condition. But occasionally I would oil the spring shaft and friction piece, otherwise it may not eject shells. It*s set for high brass. The finger prints all over it are from just coming from the field. Bluing is like new.
