1 Killed, 8 Wounded In Mass Shooting At PA Party
The shooting occurred early Sunday at an Indiana County community center.

WHITE TOWNSHIP, PA — A hail of gunfire erupted at a community center event early Sunday, leaving one man dead and eight other people wounded. Investigators still are searching for clues as to why.

The mass shooting happened around 12:35 a.m. at the Chevy Chase Community Center on North 5th Avenue. Jamar Montae Porterfield Herriot Jr., 22, of Homestead, Allegheny County, died at the scene.
Pennsylvania State Police said Sunday that an 18-year old man from Chicago is in critical condition.
Four of the victims are men, ages 18, 19, 20 and 22. Two women, ages 19 and 23, were also shot. Police said several of them have been released from the hospital. All of the them are Pennsylvania residents except the 18-year-old, who is from Florida.

Police believe more than one shooter was involved. No suspects are in custody.

According to police, the shooting occurred during a private party attended by as many as 150 college-aged students. It was not an official part of Indiana University of Pennsylvania's homecoming festivities over the weekend; the university is located about two miles from the community center.
