Best way of shipping a pistol for repairs?
I need to send a pistol out for repairs to the manufacturer.
What is the best way to send it out?
I kind of remember reading somewhere if you take the slide off the frame, that I would be able to ship it that way with out running into any problems.
Would I be ok shipping the firearm to the manufacturer that way?
I would probably bag the slide separately, the barrel separately, guide rod and all the small pieces separately and the frame separately.
Any feed back is appreciated.

Usually the easiest way is through a FFL or gun dealer. I believe even disassembled the frame is an issue. I just use a dealer.

Yea,
I wasn't to sure about that. I'm gonna have to ask my local FFL how much there gonna charge me to ship it to the manufacturer.
I just don't want to pay an arm and a leg though.

I got some good responses. I took care of it tonite. I went to a local FFL (thanks steve) and he is taking care of it for me. I got a response from Customer service throught email when I got home tonite and they state to ship it through fedex. I have been informed that it must be overnited if it is fedx and USPS will not ship unless your goverment or have FFL.

I have shipped a few fully assembled via FedEx. I used two day service and saved a ton of money. I used to work there and know that 2 day ships the same as overnight but just gets held in a secure location at the final destinations hub for an extra day. As long as the freight bill is paid believe me, we didnt care what was in the box. When you drop it off if they ask you whats in the box just be honest and tell them its precision machined steel parts.

If the receiver does not need to be shipped, then it's like sending any other item.
If the receiver does not to be shipped, I use FedEx overnight or second day. The FedEX paperwork does not ask for details on the contents, only if they are dangerous (NO!).
