Granted the best thing would have been for him to just accept the citizen was armed and conduct the traffic stop as normal.
To me it sounds like he was prolonging the stop for longer then necessary to address the original cause for the stop. Which Pennsylvania’s highest court has held is unlawful.

The last time I was stopped (registration out) officer immediately asked if I had any weapons. Answered (truthfully) no. Nothing else happened. If I were carrying, would I have committed a crime?
Seems to me that all these "I have nothing illegal" etc. dodgy answers only fuel suspicion and may as well be a yes. If I'm not committing a crime by just saying no, then the right answer is probably a simple no. If they find it later, I guess just say I forgot?

It is never in your best interest to lie to LE.

Alternatively, you could respond with *I don*t answer questions*, which is your right.

It's not a crime to lie to the cops (outside very narrow circumstance) on a traffic stop. And it very well might be in your interest to lie if Barney decides to seize your firearm and finger-bangs a round off.
The cops will lie to you in a thrice, on a traffic stop or anywhere else it suits their purpose.

Your best bet is to keep your mouth closed or simply deny you're armed. Like my friend says, "Ees like fiching. *** onldy get dee hook, when *** open joor mouth."

    Bad idea.

Why would anyone advertise that and draw undue attention to themselves?

Considering the lack of situational awareness, by blood all over his clean uniform. But as I said I learned a few important lessons from the stop and from posters on this thread, live an learn.
