Any reputable gunsmiths in Central PA for a custom Sporter build?
Hi folks,
I'm in the process of saving up for a custom bolt-action build, for use on whitetail, elk, and maybe a couple trips out west. I know of a few gunsmiths across the state who do this kind of thing, but I live in York county, and I'd like to support local businesses wherever I can. Can someone point me to anyone in south-central PA who has a good reputation for this kind of thing?
My long-term plans include an exhibition-grade walnut stock -- I want this rifle to eventually serve as a family heirloom-- but, since that will effectively double the price of the build, I'm probably going to settle for a nicer fiberglass or carbon-fiber stock in the short term (think McMillan or AG Composites).
I'd appreciate any suggestions and/or sharing your own experiences with the process of getting a custom rifle built!
Thanks!
