Re: PA Sheriffs use COVID as a reason to suspend LTCF processing.
So Philly isn't accepting applications. They say they'll honor pick up letters after the lockdown ends, but they aren't allowing anyone to apply for renewal until they reopen. Mine expires the 12th of next month, and am now concerned about a potential law violation. I can't get a pick up letter because I can't even apply for renewal.

I am in the same boat but in Delco. I read today Penndot is extending renewals until 6/30 and using existing photos for DL/ID. They have to extend the LTCF out at some point id imagine

Re: PA Sheriffs use COVID as a reason to suspend LTCF processing.
I just got back from renewing my LTCF in Bucks. They don't seem to be answering the phone but you don't need to call or have an appointment. Their website is up to date so you just walk in during the posted hours. I got there around 11. As soon as I walked in they asked if I was here for a permit but since there only allow 2 people in the office at once they told me to wait before the metal detector screen. I waited 5-10 min and one of them escorted me to the sheriffs office. I gave them my form, drivers license, old LTCF and $20 and sat back down. In a few minutes they took my picture and I was out of there in less than 1/2 hour total. Everyone seemed professional and courteous. The biggest hassle was figuring out what building it was in and where to park.
On a related note when I got to the courthouse there was a medium sized demonstration to reopen the state. The protestors all had signs but no silly facemasks. A fair amount of American flags too. There were 2 cops across the street just watching. I was planning on joining in but they broke up before I was finished.

Re: PA Sheriffs use COVID as a reason to suspend LTCF processing.
A friend of mine had her ex confront her in the parking lot where she lives, grabbed her phone and smashed it, forced his way into her car, physically assaulted her, smashed her windshield, after she screamed long enough he took off only to follow her as she went to go find help.
He about ran her off the road and when she stopped he was able to pin her vehicle in and drag her out of her vehicle (he still had a key fob for the car) (two people seen it go down and recorded it as they chased home off).
She filed for a PFA and got it.
Saturday I helped her buy a handgun since I couldn’t loan her one due to her not having a LTCF and our idiotic laws.
Today she found out the Indiana County sheriff is being his typical old crusty ass self and is not issuing licenses.
So now what?
She cannot open carry because of the “state of emergency” and I cannot follow her around all day and night.
The crusty ass bastard sheriff is granting the great unwashed licenses again starting on June 1st and she has an appointment on the 2nd.
This state and the entire legislature are a joke for allowing this to happen.

This, right here. This is the one who needs to be our poster child. This is the person who needs to sue the sheriff.
Or, have her come stay with me. She can file a change of address on PennDot's website, using my address. She can get an appointment with Blair County, and go get her LTCF. And then she can change her address back, and her LTCF is still good, AFAIK. When I moved to a different county, the Sheriff's office told me my LTCF was still good, no need to get one through their office until it expired.

Funny how the need it done now laws are set up to take guns from one person and to prevent a victim acquiring one...an equal opportunity gun control
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

Re: PA Sheriffs use COVID as a reason to suspend LTCF processing.
I called the Northampton County Sheriff's office again today - no change. They said they "expect" to re-open on June 8th, but that does me no good considering my license expires on June 2nd and Comrade Wolf hasn't extended the renewal expiration date of May 30th yet.
