Anyone carry a back up gun?
Anyone carry a back up gun just in case the primary gun malfunctions or you lose control of the weapon in a struggle?
Alien Gear Holsters have very comfortable ankle holsters that I was thinking of using to carry a more compact back up gun such as a glock 19.

You're gonna need mc hammer pants to conceal a glock 19 on the ankle.
I do have a nice galco holster that does well with an LCP.

Keep in mind that shorts weather is coming and you may need another option, unless you aren't a shorts guy.

I really discourage ankle holster carry.
Impossible to get to in a fight, only real application is if you have a lot of advanced warning or are being held hostage.
Statistically most defensive gunfights are over in under 2 seconds (Islamist mass murder being a growing exception), carry should be tailored accordingly.
If you must carry a backup (I don't), pocket carry or deep conceal is more practical. How can you have any cookies if you don't drink your milk?

Re: Anyone carry a back up gun?
I carried a BUG while on duty as a LEO, always a J Frame revolver - different models over the years. Never carried one off duty nor do I carry one now.
Regarding ankle carry - I have used them from time to time. While working plain clothes during my Pro Act Unit assignment (anti-crime unit) when we were working "john" decoys. Very easy to get to the gun while seated in car, also when working bar's the "ladies" would run their hand along your back and side to check for holstered weapon, so ankle carry again. My opinion - ankle carry = a small revolver, think J frame, detective special, or nowadays even Ruger LCR.
Still have my ankle holster today - its my "going to a wedding" holster.
I've never been a fan of pocket carry, I've only used it a handful of times in the past 35 years. But some people do like it, its good to have options - allows one to complete the "mission" of being able to be armed 24/7/365.Tomorrow's battle is won during today's practice.

Re: Anyone carry a back up gun?
Have an Alien ankle holster on order. They really are different than the run of the mill ones and claim to accomodate a G19 size gun easily. Mine is for my Shield. Ordered on 4/15 and just inquired about order yesterday and was told the end of May! Ugh. Like someone said, it will be shorts weather by then. They cover nicely with most pants barring skinny jeans.
