Re: Free HD TV
If you have internet available, a $30 Roku box will give several channels that are totally free. Sling TV has some free things available including Fox News. Hulu has free trials and then starts at about $6-7 a month. There is enough on Hulu to watch for months.
Most streaming services are offering 7-30 days free right now, so you could just keep rotating free trials probably until this thing is over.
Once a year I get a free week of Showtime and binge watch that years shows and cancel without paying a dime. Right now its a free month.

Re: Free HD TV
We have an HD antenna upstairs in our computer room and cable down stairs. If both TVs are tuned to the same channel you can hear the computer room is about 10 seconds ahead of the cable. Be good for making quick bets on a game or something. I'm real close to the city and get a ton of channels, but sometimes the signal fades in and out. Each channel has 3 or 4 sub channels too, not sure if I can get those on the cable.

The $30 Roku works on WiFi or can plug in with an adapter (I think). I would say you need at least 5MPS speed and reliable service with little interruptions. That could be cable internet, 3/4/5G cellular, DSL or an open WiFi hotspot. It is powered by the usb wall charger included or from the usb on your tv. It Then just plugs into the HDMI on your tv.
There are several no cost apps and you can search for whatever you want to watch and it will tell you where it’s available. If it’s not available now it will notify you when it is. For instance, I watched Father Goose with my daughter tonight at no cost, no subscription.
On top of that, most pay services are offering 7-30 days free right now due to the lockdowns. Most let you cancel immediately so you don’t forget and you still get the free period in full.
Sling on roku offers some free live news programs and some other free live channels also. These mirror whatever is on that tv channel at that time. Easy way to get Fox News free.
Hulu is, I believe, the best value pay service at $7 a month if you don't mind some commercials.
