UPS says all guns must go next day air
Twice in the past week I went to the customer service counter at 15 E Oregon Ave here in Philly to ship rifles. Both times I was told they must go next day air. I knew handguns had go that way, but all firearms? They said yes. So, I drove up to FedEx in Bristol and sent them that way.
Tonight I called UPS customer service and they confirmed all firearms must now go next day air.

Quite frankly, it would aid in preventing them from getting lost. ATM, I think I'd actually favor it despite the cost.

Yeah, it's more than likely partly a way for UPS to keep better control of firearms being shipped. Next Day Air requires almost constant attention through the entire process, which minimizes the possibility of certain packages "falling off the truck" or being "lost in the distribution center", especially if those packages are labelled in some way to indicate their contents.

They're not following policy. I literally shipped a rifle to an out of state FFL about 2 weeks ago and it went UPS ground. Pistols have to go next day, but rifles can go whatever.

Only mentions special restrictions for pistols and ammo.Last edited by KPShooting; April 10th, 2019 at 09:55 PM.

Maybe they had a theft at the Oregon Ave location. Punish the many for the sins of a few.

The need to know is null and void when not breaking the law.

They won't even ship gun parts at the local UPS stores. I bought an upper that I needed to return and I had to go to the terminal(which had awful service hours BTW) and had to fill out all sorts of paperwork.
