Stripper Clips for the AK
I keep around 1000 rounds of .223 on stripper clips, and when I go to the range, they function perfectly.
I picked up a Yugo AK a few weeks ago and promptly ordered some additional mags, 40 stripper clips and 3 chargers.
The AK stripper clips are metal and curved, they were COVERED in grease when I got them. I cleaned them up and proceeded to load the rounds onto the clips. Went to the range and couldn't get a single clip to run more than 3 or 4 rounds into the mag.
I've never had an issue with my .223 clips for my ARs. This is my first AK.. am I missing something, or do stripper clips for AKs just suck?

Re: Stripper Clips for the AK
Those 10 round strippers are for the SKS. I don't believe any AK mags heve wide enough lips to accomodate them.

Re: Stripper Clips for the AK
There's a gizmo that fits onto the top of AK47 magazines that functions as a bridge between SKS strippers and the magazine: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...?Item=98798057
Unlike those for the SKS on an AK47, AK74 strippers work directly like a charm, really, but using strippers repeatedly on magazines isn't a good idea. I'd invest in a LULA loader and be done with it: http://www.nextag.com/Butler-Creek-L...88/prices-html The LULA won't kill your magazine lips prematurely.

Re: Stripper Clips for the AK
whats the link between using stripper clips and wearing out mags???
how can the mag tell the diffrence how the round was put into it??
ive never "wore a mag out" and i use strippers whenever i can. its my prefered method.
btw, try a gun show, you can get them for around $5 if you look.

Re: Stripper Clips for the AK
The stripper puts the rounds down through the top, where they brush past the lips. The LULA loader lets you drop them in the front, on top of the follower, and thus there's no inward rubbing on the lips. One thing that the LULA is great for is unloading, which is an absolute PITA on AKs and ARs. Since you can't travel in PA with a loaded rifle magazine, it makes the end of the day at the range rather quick if you don't intend to shoot all the mags empty.

Re: Stripper Clips for the AK
so your saying a lula loader must be used to load a magazine??
ANY OTHER WAY of loading a magazine is going to have the cartridges rubbing over the lips, on ANY firearm with a magazine, other than some tube fed's.
how did we get along for 100 years without lula??
not trying to flame you hear (although, it does sound like it, dosent it??) its just that i really dont see your point. i have never seen someone use a lula, myself included, i dont like them, and likewise, of all the magazine failures ive seen, none of them were from "worn out" feedlips.
