Re: Philly zoo - cc poll
Sorry to bother you, don't put yourself out.
It does beg the question though, if it's in a policy not posted anywhere how are the regular folks like me supposed to know about it? As I said I'm a member, have been for many years, don't recall seeing it written in any of my membership materials.

It is the policy of the Zoological Society of Philadelphia to prohibit the possession of firearms upon the grounds except under the specific conditions listed in this policy.
Zoo-owned firearms are permitted upon the property. The use of these firearms shall be in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Animal Recapture Team and only by authorized members of this team.
Duly sworn police officers may carry and use their service firearms in the performance of their duties in accordance with applicable law.
Law enforcement officers in plainclothes or off-duty officers carrying a firearm should keep said firearm concealed during their visit to the zoo. (This includes a clause that they need to let the staff know they are carrying and provide their info to a Zoo Public Safety officer.)
The carrying of any firearm by a person that not a duly sworn law enforcement officer, authorized Zoo team member or contractor in the performance of their duties is prohibited.Junior

If his parents or someone else was carrying the day the kid fell into the African painted dog enclosure at the Pittsburgh Zoo and was mauled to death, he might still be alive. I carry there, and I'd carry in Philly too.

I always CC at the Zoo. Wouldn't want to be outside the Zoo un armed and certainly wouldn't leave it in the truck.

Seems like they have a policy just in case they need one but don't really intend to enforce it unless someone is offended.
I'll second the notion that the child may have survived the African dogs if there was a cc'r nearby.

I wouldn't go into the jungle without a gun. There's only a short wall separating those animals from the really dangerous animals !

As the site of the 1876 Centennial Exposition and the first zoo in the United States, the Philadelphia Zoo, Fairmount Park was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 7, 1972.
