Re: Local man buys 200,000 AR's.
My bet is a typo and would say he bought 250k dollars worth of guns. Don't think the mans house was worth 250k AR's.

How many guns to the Branch Davidians buy before the ATF decided they bought too many? I'm doubting this guy buy 250,000 firearms and hasn't been visited.

Lets see what he tries to sell them for when the chance of a ban fizzles out and he is stuck with all of that inventory.

That seems more likely. If he is selling at firehalls, he likely does not have $100,000,000 of stock.

If you buy 200,000 AR's, the black vans will be pulling into your driveway. I don't care ifyou are a FFL dealer or not. It's not right I agree, However that is what would happen. In addition, you are not going to be able to get 200,000 ar's at this point. Dealer or not. You would be luckly to get 200 at this point. I know dealers that can't get any let alone that many.
You can't fix stupid....... So I try to ignore Liberals!

Re: Local man buys 200,000 AR's.
If I'm not mistaken, I did see a report once of someone using an Amex Centurion Card to pay for a painting they had purchased at auction. Not sure the painting was a $100 million, it might have been $10 million give or take though. They said they used the card for the purchase protection, and the miles. $200,000 dollars worth of AR's seems more likely though. If you purchased 200,000 AR's you would likely be better off just buying the equipment, hiring machinists, and manufacturing your own AR's. Only other reasonable explanation is if you were trying to set up a chain of stores that only sells AR's , or if you were trying supply your own militia or army.

Do you have access to the full article? The Press Enterprise requires a user name and password for online access.
200,000 AR's at a purchase price of $500 each would require an investment of 100 million dollars. I don't think he has that type of mortgage or credit card limit. If his name were Magee, Katerman or perhaps a couple of other wealthy families from Bloomsburg; he may be able to swing the investment.
The full article would be interesting to read.

Re: Local man buys 200,000 AR's.
I can guarantee he took out a $250,000 mortgage on his house to buy $250,000 worth of guns. No way he could finance $100 million with just a house as collateral. The paper is mistaken and they have misquoted the situation. Donald Trump and Warren Buffet finance $100 million dollar deals not the guy from Bloomsburg that took a mortgage out on his house.
He probably paid $700- 800 a pop on those rifles and pretty soon if not already the market will reach an oversaturation point then he'll be sitting on those things while the bank wants it's money. There's a point at which people wil refuse to pay that kind of price and they will find alternate suppliers. He'll have to move the prices down quite a bit to get that many rifles moving just to pay the bank.
Maybe it will work out for him who can say. I wouldn't mortgage my house on such a deal unless I was the middlegirl and had a buyer/s all lined up ready to go. Selling them onesy - twosy at gun shows is pretty risky business.

Hell if I only paid 700-1000 for those rifles I'd sell them for 1500 and still make money.
