Backwoods Outfitters in Columbia
Does anybody else frequent this shop? It's off the beaten path...you would never stumble upon it by accident. It's a tiny place, but always has a real nice selection of used stuff. His prices (the owner's name is Tom) are GREAT too.

I used to live in York (before I had my FFL) and Tom was my primary dealer. You won't find a nicer or more trustworthy place to do business.

Re: Backwoods Outfitters in Columbia
I hit this shop a few times when I lived in East Hempfield before relocating to Carlisle; he doesn't have the largest on hand selection, but the shop people are nice, knowledgable, honest, and willing to answer alot of ???'s...if you are allergic to dog dander, take your antihistamine before going...the owners have 2 of the nicest Golden Retrievers that love to nudge everyone for a pet on the head! Great shop!!!

3 retrievers. There is also a Chocolate Lab named Ben. He's not there all the time. Backwoods is a good shop.

Nice shop and Tom is a great guy to deal with. Very informative.

Re: Backwoods Outfitters in Columbia
I used to stop in almost weekly when I lived in Lancaster and I've bought quite a few guns there. Actually, I've bought so much stuff there that I think I'm sending his kids to college.
Tom is a great guy and his prices are always decent.
I don't get out that way much anymore but I always see him at the Valley Forge gun show.

Bought a few guns from him at Valley Forge show and stopped out to the store twice. Very nice people and willing to deal and answer questions.

Re: Backwoods Outfitters in Columbia
I met these folks at the Valley Forge gun show last month, bought a nicely-used Bushmaster from them. I was very favorably impressed. It would be a long ride for me to visit their store, but I might do it at some point.
