Yawl might have seen this lately on Youtube and the popular gun channels on there, "mud testing". No one is content enough anymore just to shoot guns on camera, now they are rolling them in mud and sand and then trying to shoot them as a test of "reliability". This seems to be the latest youtube fad. Military Arms Channel is doing this all the time, InRange TV/Forgotten Weapons is, TFB TV has done it some and probably some others I can't remember at this moment.

As an example:

I'm a bit confused as to what all this is about. 99.9999% of the people out there watching are not SEALs rising out of the swamp to engage the Viet Cong. Obviously if you sit there and cover any gun in mud or pack it with dirt, it's probably not going to fire.

I'm curious to know if any one here in a civilian environment has ever been in a situation where this "mud testing" would matter to them or have any practical application?
