Unhappy Pennsylvania is in for some hard times....

The Government stimulus package given to the state of Pennsylvania is much needed... The problem I have is that none of it will be given to State Parks or State forests... Why is this a problem? While the car industry is begging for a bail out, our State Parks are starting to suffer. Two or three years down the road I am more likely to visit a State Park/Forest more than once, before I buy a car... Personally I like foreign cars more than the US made ones... No offence to you Ford and Chevy fans... Now the reason why we should give some money to State Forest/Parks is because it brings business to the community around it. It is a trickle down affect.... Even tho sportsmen and sports enthusiasts like kayaking and hikers are small, they buy equipment like hunting licenses, guns ammo, cloths, calls, kayaks, food and other things. The sporting industry brings in a around $40 Billion a year. Now if we keep cutting the funding to these facilities we may lose them in the near future. I don’t know about all of you but I love my natural surroundings and don’t want fast eddy F-ing it up for everyone else for poor spending... Anyone else have anything else to add or an opinions?

Whoa Whoa Whoa... I dont think this stimulus bill is anything more then a democratic wish list. The parks are about the last thing we should be throwing money at. How would that increase revenue? Look into this bill, total b.s. man, before you start telling people to support it. How about write your senator and request a tax cut. That would put money back into the economy faster then anything. If this thing passes socialism will be right around the corner. Fukc that pos obama. dammit!!!!!!!!!

The state of Pennsylvania does not need a bailout. I'm going to lose my job on April 3rd. I'm starting to cut back on some things, and saving some money. The state needs to do the same thing. It's called a budget. I know the Philadelphia crook in the governors mansion thinks that life should just go on like nothing is happening, but the fact is, things suck right now. It's time for the welfare people to participate in this little downturn just like the rest of us. Work or starve. Good motto don't you think?

tes151 gets it. Look at government as a business, a poorly run business. We the people have been bailing them out for I don't know how long with our increased taxes. The government is the most poorly run business of them all and obama has the audacity to criticize the private sector!? Now they have run out of excuses and everyone sees the government for what it really is. Off topic but this shit is infuriating and I can't help myself.

The solution is not SOCIALIZING everything and "bailouts."

Call me naive, but I am curious what a large chunk of funding would be used towards actually protecting natural surroundings.

My case in point is locally, we had a hike/bike trail running along a local river. Not the most perfect 5 miles through the woods, but for being in my backyard, it wasn't too bad. So the local planning commission and any others who weigh in on such manners declared several years ago it would be spending about $20k to improve that particular area of trails. Cool, says I.

Well, what they did was remove the naturally winding 2' wide beaten dirt path, cut a 30' swath through the trees, leveled it, and coated it with a cinder and blacktop roadway. Replaced the natural fallen log and stepping stone creek crossings with 10' wide plank and steel bridges, and generally turned a few pleasant miles in the woods into an over traveled groomer that now has a ton of litter lining either side, and is more a home to pot smoking teenagers and vandals than hikers.

I could understand money to purchase land for becoming classified as State Forest/Refuge, but Ive just seen too much money misspent into ruining truly natural and wild areas.
