Bring on the memories
What was that gun you shot that made it you still shoot today?
For me it was pellet guns and a cooey .22 bolt action single shot. I must of shot a rifle like this for about 4 years every weekend when we went to the chalet, and most every day in summer... My older brother was about 21 when he handed me a 12G double barrel 2 trigger shotgun.. I flew back and hit a tree, Being a tiny kid that i was at 7 years old i used to shoot with my middle finger wrapped around the trigger guard... You guessed it, I shot both shots at once, Put the fear of them things into me so deep, next time i even touched a shotgun i was in my 30's. Big brother still finds that one funny too!
Later I got into a gun club where S&W .38 was the big thing, I still own a S&W mod.66 .357 today, I just love that wheel gun.Last edited by Frenchy; July 8th, 2006 at 01:16 PM.
Skeet is a sport where you are better to hit half of each bird then completely blast one and miss the other completely.
The choice is yours, place your faith in the court system and 12 of your peers, or carried away by 6 friends.

My Dad was in the national shooting team back when we lived in Argentina.
He used to take me and my sister to the "National Range" at least twice a month.
He got me started with a Black Taurus Air-Rifle (made in Brazil), and then he graduated me to a .22 carabine, bolt action rifle.
That Taurus rifle is at least 18 years old, has been cleaned once, and it still goes pop everytime it has too. Every now and then I'll set up a little lane in my basement and have a little pellet fun.==============

I would have to say my bb/pellut rifle that looked like an AR15...I shot many birds during the summers at the farm. Shooting has to be my #1passion/hobby.

For me, it was an FEG PA-63, only 6 months ago. I hated guns before I shot it, but when I put it in my hand for the first time, it seemed to fit so well. I still have it, but ammo(9x18mm) is so hard to find around here.

Wish I still owned my first.
My first was a single shot Ithaca .410. But the gun I miss the most is an Ithaca single shot .22. It looked like a lever gun, when you worked the action the top of the receiver would drop down and you placed a ctg. into the chamber.
That rifle belonged to a friend. I used to plink with it every day, and I must admit that I was damn good with it. I requested that if he ever sold it to call me, but to no avail, he sold it without my knowledge.
My oldest gun now is a Dan Wesson model 15-2V .357 pistol pack that I bought in 1981. I recently started using it again after about an 18 year rest, but the revolver is still like new.Jack

If I read the title right..the firearm that started us down the 'shooting road' that we still use today?
Reckon that is my Mother's 12 guage Ithica double barrel. I've tried to retire it many times but just can't find a replacement to this date. It is old and tired and full of war wounds.
Grandpa used blackpowder in it when things were tight so the barrels have some pits..kinda like my teeth..but she still bites on everything I aim to eat. I was 12 when he gave it to me.
The barrels been cut to 18ish after a corn cob shooting incident that I still deny to this day! I'm sure it was my Uncle's misuse of Red Dot while rolling shells. (maybe)
I used it for 4 years of Cowboy Action til the stock cracked a smidge and I thought I retired it last year until I was invited to a game farm to hunt pheasants. <--silly birds. Not like I remember as a boy but it was still nice to see them fly. I shot one and then let the other fellas play pheasant hunting.
I'm gonna take the neighbor kid squirrel hunting (my kids are still alittle young yet) and I imagine that worn, smooth stock will be under my arm pit just like it belongs there ..I'm sure I'll be wishing my dead old dog Bear would round the corner too. Funny how I can't remember what I did yesterday.

Model 69 .22 Bolt action. My mother thought bb guns were too dangerous but was ok with letting a 10-year old have an old used .22. It was a constant companion on the farm. I even spent days and days learning to turn and fire from the hip at cans and bottles. Got so I could hit them regularly. Took it out after a very long rest a month ago and I still remember how to shoot it accurately. Great little 22. Saw one in much worse shape at a gun show recently. They only wanted $365 for it.

first gun
As a kid my dad was a founding member of a Boy Scout troop , we has a real big family room we built and dad used to qualify the troop with one of those lever action winchester type B B guns , I liked it so much that when I got older I bought one , the rear sights got knocked off early on but I could still take the flame off a cigarette from about 30 feet ,,, My brother used it to shoot down my model airplanes I had strung to the ceiling ... But thats another story
