If this country is stupid enough to vote this fraud into the highest office in the United States then they deserve to reap what they have sown.

    Coal is a dead-end.. It's 17th Century power source.

Look at the huge new industry of clean power being created right here in this country.. The sooner we get off oil and coal the better.

Plus coal is an enviromental crap pile. Bull markets and bear market's come and go, we only get one planet..

I agree, nuculear is the way to go. It requires an initial investment but it really pays off in the long run. However while coal and other forms of power are still viable it is foolish not to make the best use of them.

True enough, but "they" are going to take millions of "us" with them.

Thumbs up Re: Own a coal powered power plant

Windmills are indispensible... if your last name is "Quixote."

In a state like PA, where I can pick up coal off the GROUND - in DOWNTOWN PITTSBURGH - I'll take coal power, until you finish building all your little windchimes.

It's a GREAT idea, it's clean & renewable, and we're 100 years behind on doing it. Feel free to bitch at my grandparents for not having started sooner - they've ALL been dead for at least 11 years. Coal works, and we don't have to buy it from some Habib, who will turn around and pay somebody to fly a plane into our skyscrapers with the profits.

Coal's gonna be here a long while, face it folks ............ .......... the good ole USA is gonna rely on coal for a another century. 50% of the power consumption in the USA is from coal. He's an idiot!

Besides, who's gonna spend the billions on nuclear that it will take to replace it. Wind is a mute point. It take 300 wind mills to equal a medium sized power plant. Gotta know generation and BO hasn't a clue, proved it with his statements.

Keep in mind, the wind “mills” (I can’t come to call them turbines) we are building and connecting to the grid are just multi-pole 3-phase induction motors. They receive excitation FROM the grid and return power only when the wind tries to speed them up. Most EE’s that are power related say no more than 10% wind power, a few say as much as 20%, and then the grid can become unstable. We still need 90 or 80% base line plants with 10 or 20% rotating standby capacity. I strongly believe that nuclear is the way to go, but we have coal and it will be 1/3 the time and ˝ the cost to go with coal.
