Default Former NJ cop sentenced to five years in weapons possession case

Not sure if this has been posted yet.
Shame this guy chose to make N.J. his home. Now his home will be state prison for the next five years.

Good example of one more, "cop/ex cop", that thought the laws didn't apply to him.

Another sign that we are doomed as a society. Mandatory jail time for a victimless "crime" that is a perfectly legal activity in all the free states, while they give a pass to first-time muggers and car thieves.

I'd be fascinated by any rational theory as to why New Jersey residents are safer with this guy in jail than outside.

The mindset behind this phobic discrimination against some types of guns owners is very reminiscent of the hatred and phobia against mixed-race couples 50 years ago, and the crazy laws against miscegenation being replaced by equally crazy laws against AR-15's is not a step forward, or progress in any sense.

If something doesn't hurt anybody, then it shouldn't be illegal. There is no evidence at all that the hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians who own such rifles and magazines are causing an iota of additional crime, when compared to the oppressed and limited folks in Jersey.

It's my guess that a lot of normal people have guns/mags that put them in violation of the law in NJ. I've been at a range in PA,not too far west of the Deleware and have seen some interesting stuff in the hands of NJ residents.
This interesting stuff is fine in PA but bigtime illegal in NJ.

Many of these people don't seem to realize the serious legal issue of a 30rd mag or the assault firearm (NJ's term not mine) that it fits into. NJ gun laws are no joke.

Hinkel, 62, was arrested in January 2009, when state police went to his home to question him in an unrelated investigation and found numerous firearms in plain view. They later executed a search warrant at the four-acre site and discovered hundreds of guns.
    "hundreds of guns"? I'm jealous.

There was a lot more to this than the article mentions.
This guy had lots more going on than running afoul of NJ gun law.

    Then he did very well.

A single "assault weapon" gets you 7 to 10 years in NJ. Dozens, plus mags, plus other things going on? Nice knowin' ya!
