    Question Legal stuff

I have been living in PA for about 3 months now and will receive my green card soon.

Can someone tell me when/if I am able to purchase a firearm and obtain a CCL licence and how to go about doing this?

I am ex-army (British) so I am already very familiar with firearms and ROA (rules of engagements) so I don't want a CCL for dumb stuff, just personal protection.

    Thanks in advance

You will need state issued ID (driv lic) , your green card, and you will need 90 days of utility bills, an/or bank statements, and/or paystubs that support your having been a resident for those 90 days.

Other than that the PICS check takes a couple more minutes than a natural born citizen because the system requires an operator do the check manually (as opposed to the automated check)

Is this just for the purchase of firearms?

    What about a CCL?

Is that due to the foreign born situation?

The residency paperwork is required by Fed law for sales executed on an ATF form 4473 (at a dealer).

I do not believe the residency material is required by law (18Pa.C.S.6109) for LTCF.

LTCF (License to Carry Firearms) is the PA form of CCL??

    What does ATF stand for?

All your guns registered on a database somewhere?

Whether folks will accept it as such is another matter.

    An LTCF allows you to
    1) CC outside your abode or fixed place of biz (IE: public) Statewide minus the prohibited places. (Ref: 18Pa.C.S.§6106)
    2) carry a firearm (OC or CC) during a Pa. declared state of emergency. (Ref: 18Pa.C.S.§6107)
    3) Carry OC or CC in a vehicle (Ref: 18Pa.C.S.§6106)
    4) Carry OC on public streets of Philadelphia. (Ref: 18Pa.C.S.§6108)
    5) Allows a person to loan you a handgun (Ref: 18Pa.C.S.§6115)
    6) Exempts you from the prohibition of carrying in State Parks (CC only though)
    7) Exempts one from the fed gun free school zone act provided the school is in the same state as the license holder.
