Default Black Bear Spotted in Washington County Last Night

We were having dinner at the Century Inn in Scenery Hill last night and up through the woods came a young black bear! In 30+ yrs of living in this area, I have never seen a bear here. I've heard plenty of reports of them around, but most of them you take with a grain of salt. This one is real!

I'm no judge of weight for these, it was decent size, but not full grown. It didn't seem to be too interested in us, but it didn't run away either.

    Very Cool. You're lucky.

A few years ago, my wife and I were camping at Prince Gallitzen state park(Cambria Co.) and during a walk through a mostly deserted campground, we spotted a young black bear moving quickly through the woods about 75 ft. behind where the campsites are. I pointed it out to a group of young kids who were coming out of a tent and the three girls screamed and got into their little Toyota pickup. The "guys" jumped into the bed(no cap)! I wanted to laugh, but I was more interested in the bear, as I'd camped there since I was in diapers and had never seen one. We both watched in amazement as it disappeared in the distance.

Later when we walked past the ranger station, we mentioned the sighting and the ranger said he'd already been notified of the bears presence... another camper had reported the bear and asked him "aren't you going to SHOOT it or something?" He told them that the bear wasn't harming anyone and that they should consider themselves lucky to have SEEN a bear in its natural habitat!
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

When camping up in Alaska we were worried about our food smells attracting bears.....

So we drizzied the bacon grease on the other side of the grounds

We did see a moose up close and personal, then the baby moose. We were gone like a paycheck in a whorehouse.

Bears are so cool, I seen one on the side of the road near the deleware water gap in a small field and we stopped and took some pictures, the bear was about 400 lbs, guessing, but it's great to see one up close.
